When File Buddy compares two inventories of the same disk or folder, it reports the results in four text files, named Deleted Items, Modified Items, Moved Items, and New Items, placing the files in a folder it creates when it does the comparison. The Compare Result -> List... command in the Cleaning menu will build a list of the items in any the Modified Items, Moved Items, and New Items files.
If you’re planning to install an application you may want to remove later, inventory the disk you’ll be installing on imediately before installing. After the installation, run the application, maybe set some preferences, in case the application creates a preferences file. Then inventory the disk again. When you compare the inventories, the items placed on the disk during the installation will be in the New Items file. Note that other items may be in there as well, but you can remove the extras from the list manually after it’s built.
